There are a total of 21 Regional Centers in California. Regional Centers are service oriented non-profit organizations contracted with the State to serve those under 18 with developmental disabilities (intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism). Before the age of 3, one can request a screening and evaluation from Regional Centers. Regional Centers will then diagnose and offer treatment. After the age of 3, one can request an evaluation from the School District and if qualified, will receive necessary services for education. In addition to the education provided by the schools, services are available at Regional Centers that one might be eligible for a lifetime.
Regardless of one’s legal status, one is able to register at their local Regional Center. Please refer below to the list of Regional Centers and contact the Regional Center closest to you for more information.
