There are a total of 21 Regional Centers in California. Regional Centers are service oriented non-profit organizations contracted with the State to serve those diagnosed with developmental disabilities (intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism) before the age of 18. For toddlers under the age of 3, one can request an evaluation from the Regional Centers and will be offered treatment if needed. After the age of 3, one can request an evaluation from the School District and if qualified, will receive necessary services for education. For those who qualify, services not related to school can be received from the Regional Centers and may be eligible for a lifetime.
