KASEC’s COVID-19 FUND 모금. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

  KASEC COVID-19 Fund

We Need Your Help for the individuals with Developmental Disabilities!

Greetings, this is Rosa Chang, the Executive Director of Korean American Special Education Center.

As the COVID-19 pandemic prolonged, we have been struggling to adapt to the new normal ‘social distance’ lifestyle. However, this circumstance has created ‘social isolation’ for Korean American developmental disability community. Currently, many of our community families struggle to obtain essential food and necessities because the parents have to constantly watch and provide care for their children with developmental disability. Furthermore, due to the suspension of all therapies, schools and extracurricular activities, children with developmental disabilities engage in intensified behavioral problems at home.

To attend and assist these challenges, KASEC has been on its feet to provide up-to-date information and urgent resources over the past month. In particular, we distributed bread and pastries donated by California Senator Ling Ling Chang and La Brea Bakery, and rice, ramen, kimchi, masks, and soaps sponsored by Sempra Energy’s nonprofit grant. Overall, we have served about 300 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families over the period of a month.

The need is clear for the local Korean American developmental disability community, yet KASEC lacks the financial resources and support for such work to be sustained. Hence, KASEC COVID-19 Fund was established to mend the essential needs of our community. We sincerely ask for your generous contribution to KASEC COVID-19 Fund, so we can continue to provide valuable services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

With KASEC COVID-19 Fund, we will
1. Purchase and distribute the essential necessities (food, masks, hand sanitizers, goods) to LA and OC developmental disability community
2. Purchase a section in Korean American community website (www.missyusa.com) to continuously provide resources in Korean
3. Create YouTube Online Education Programs and content with different experts to serve students with developmental disabilities

Below is a sample video of a special physical education program by Kevin Ma, KASEC’s Special Sports Coordinator.

Your contribution will be put to meaningful uses for supporting and empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Any donation from individuals or foundations will be introduced as supporters in our YouTube videos.

Ways to make your contribution:

www.kasecca.org/donation/donate or send checks payable to Korean American Special Education Center (1661 N. Raymond Ave. Ste 109, Anaheim, CA 92806)

We believe that this challenging period will soon pass through our collective efforts of keeping the social distance. We sincerely hope you will stay safe, healthy and balanced.
