한미특수교육센터 10월 Newsletter에 오신 것을 환영합니다️ 10월의 가을하늘과 함께 기념해야 할 일이 있습니다. 바로 ‘세계 다운증후군 인식의 달’! 1980년대에 제정된 이후, 매년 10월은 다운증후군을 가진 이들의 능력과 성취를 알리는 달이 되었습니다. 다른 모든 사람들과 마찬가지로 다운증후군을 가진 이들도 꿈을 좇고, 해변을 사랑하고, 대학에서 공부도 하고, 영감넘치는 아티스트로 살아가기도 한답니다. 서로의 다름을 이해하고 포용하고자 노력하는 것은, 함께 살아가는 사회의 구성원인 우리 모두의 몫이며 그 첫걸음은 바로 올바른 인식입니다! (이 뉴스레터 하단에 팝 퀴즈가 있습니다! 놓치지 마세요!) First designated in 1980s, October raises blue and yellow stripes in the sky to celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.  People with Down syndrome are just like everyone else: dream chasers, beach lovers, college students, inspirational artists…As valued members of society, it is also everyone’s role to intentionally learn and embrace the differences, as awareness it the first step to bring changes! (There will be a pop quiz on the bottom of this newsletter !) Recognitions for the Dream Artists 지난 9월 1일, 한미특수교육센터의 드림아트 컨테스트 수상자인 Raymond와 Christian이 오렌지카운티 수퍼바이저 Doug Chaffe에게 표창장을 받았습니다. 오렌지카운티 4th District 수퍼바이저인 Chaffe가 두 아티스트의 작품에 감명을 받아 이들을 초청하게 된 것입니다. 이 날의 초대행사는 두 아티스트에게 앞으로도 예술적 여정을 계속해나갈 용기를 주었을 뿐 아니라 지역사회가 발달장애인 예술가들을 인정하고 격려하는 매우 의미있는 시간이었습니다.   On September 1, two of Dream Art Contest winners were invited to receive a very special recognitions from OC Supervisor Doug Chaffee. As a representative of the Orange County 4th district, Supervisor Chaffee was inspired by the artworks of two of the local artists, Raymond and Christian. The invitation and recognition encouraged the artists to continue with their art journey, and it was a meaningful time where the community is recognizing and appreciating artists with developmental disabilities!  Read an article! Developmental Screening: Last call!🤙   우리 아이가 나이에 맞는 발달궤도를 따라 잘 자라고 있는지를 파악하는 것은 정말 중요합니다. 아래 링크를 클릭하시면 가정에서 온라인검사를 통해 자녀의 발달을 체크해볼 수 있습니다. 기관을 직접 방문하지 않고도 부모님의 설문을 통해 이루어집니다. 소요시간은 약 15분이며, 선별검사 결과와 함께 필요시 부모님을 위한 후속 가이드까지 무료로 제공됩니다. 본 발달선별검사는 Shirakiku의 후원으로 진행됩니다. Shirakiku의 지원을 통해 우리 센터에서는 LA와 OC 지역의 한인 유치원들에 발달선별검사 및 후속상담, 그리고 발달을 돕는 교구와 물품들을 제공할 수 있었습니다. It is crucial for all parents to know where their children are with their development. Click the link below to take developmental screening at the comfort of your own house. No visits required–parents can finish the screening within 15 minutes and get the result and follow up directions all for free of charge! This screening event is sponsored by Shirakiku. With Shirakiku’s support, we were able to conduct screening & follow-up consultations and give developmentally appropriate toys and goods to local Korean American preschools.  Free Developmental Screening Registration 4th Charity Golf for Autism Awareness 자폐증 및 발달장애 인식개선을 위한 제4회 KASEC 자선 골프대회가 10월 4일, Seacliff Country Club에서 열립니다. 발달장애커뮤니티를 위해 더 좋은 프로그램을 만들기 위하여 이번 행사의 모든 수익금은 KASEC의 프로그램 개발에 사용될 예정입니다. 지금 여러분의 후원이 꼭 필요합니다! KASEC’s 4th Annual Charity golf for Autism and related developmental disability awareness is coming up on October 4 at Seacliff Country Club. In an effort to create and enhance programs for the local developmental disabilities community, all proceeds from this event will go into KASEC program development. Make your support counts now! Harmonia’s Special Performance 10월 1일, 제 4353주년 개천절을 기념하는 로스앤젤레스 총영사관 행사에서 우리 센터의 하모니아 앙상블이 특별 초청 공연을 하게 되었습니다. 300명이 넘는 관객들 앞에서 아름다운 음악을 연주하게 되어 큰 영광입니다. 이 공연은 당일 6시 30분에 총영사관의 유투브 채널을 통해 실시간 방송으로 전해드립니다. 2021년 하모니아 앙상블의 첫 라이브 공연, 모두들 오셔서 많이 시청해 주세요! On October 1, our very own Harmonia Ensemble was invited to open 4353rd Korean National Foundation Day Reception event at Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles’ house! We are very honored to play beautiful music in front of 300+ guests! They will live stream the performance at 6:30pm and the whole event afterwards. October 1st, Friday at 6:30pm Watch Harmonia’s Performance Live 1. 타이거 프로그램 : 부모님을 위한 ‘특수교육권리’ 무료강의  TIGER: Free Special Education Rights Services 타이거 프로그램은 부모님들을 위하여 특수교육 권리를 알려드리는 무료프로그램입니다. 한국어/영어/스페인어로 1년동안 월 1회 무료강의가 제공됩니다. TIGER teaches parents the rights to special education.
