KASEC Programs

KASEC Programs

KASEC has been an advocator of supporting and challenging individuals with developmental disabilities in order to foster their growth. Through various programs and services, we have created a safe place where individuals with disabilities and without disabilities come together and learn sports, music, dance, and social skills in harmony.

Sports Program

Physical and social skills of students with developmental disabilities are enhanced by participating in basketball and other unified sports with student partners with guidance from APE specialists and professional basketball coaches

Unified Basketball

Basketball Program: Students with/without disabilities come together to play basketball, strengthen health and become friends under the supervision of the APE specialists and basketball coaches.

KASEC Knights Team: Athletes selected through a try-out prepare and train for basketball games under the guidance of professional basketball coaches.

  • Responsibility: Set-up and clean-up, supporting students with disability and becoming friends

Music Program

Students with developmental disabilities can develop their social and communicational skills by making music together with other student partners. Students with or without musical inclination are welcome to join as long as they love music!

Harmonia Ensemble

Students with developmental disabilities who have acquired musical skills come together as one to create harmonious music with student partners, while enhancing social and communication skills.
  • Time: Wed. 5:30 – 7:00
  • Location: KASEC OC Office
  • Age requirements: all ages, Audition required
  • Registration fee: TBD
  • Qualification:
    • 7th grade and up
    • Intermediate skill in any instrument, audition required
  • Responsibilities:
    • Help set/clean up before and after each program session
    • Assist students with developmental disabilities
    • Develop amiable relationship them

Dance Program

Students with developmental disabilities learn creative choreography and learn to dance in unison with student partners. Through teamwork, students enhance their physical and social skills.

KASEC Dancing Stars

Students with developmental disabilities learn creative choreography and learn to dance in unison with student partners. Through teamwork, students enhance their physical and social skills.

  • Location: SOW Studio
  • Age requirements: Kinder and up
  • Registration fee: TBD
  • Qualification: 8th grade and up
  • Responsibilities:
    • Help set/clean up before and after each program session
    • Assist students with developmental disabilities
    • Develop amiable relationship them.

Social Skill Program

Engaging students with/without developmental disabilities to improve social and communication skills.

 

Program

Social Hangout

Through peer modeling, social interaction, and communication, students with developmental disabilities will develop their social skills while playing games and having meaningful conversation on a weekly basis.

  • Time: Friday, 4:30-5:30 PM
  • Location: Online (Zoom)
  • Age: Post high school 
  • Registration Fee: TBD
  • Age: 10th grade and up
  • Responsibility: Attending weekly meeting, Preparing materials, Supporting students with disability and becoming friends
